JACKNIFE DESIGN RALLIES CANADIANS TO CELEBRATE ATHLETE'S EXEMPLARY COMMITMENT TO HIS COUNTRY
Toronto, ON (February 22, 2014) Toronto agency, Jacknife today announced the Thanks Gilmore campaign, an initiative encouraging Canadians to celebrate the incredible personal sacrifice made by Canadian Olympian Gilmore Junio at the 2014 Winter Games. The initiative called - Thanks Gilmore asks Canadians to contribute to a crowdfunding campaign to help make a commemorative medal directly from the people of Canada to be given to Junio. Jacknife’s goal is to present Junio with a commemorative medal produced by the agency and funded by Canadians in recognition of his incredible demonstration of true Canadian values.
“Junio’s ability to put his own lifelong dream aside to give another athlete a shot, set an example for not only Canada but people all over the world," said Jacknife partner, Mikey Richardson. "The way he put the pride of the country ahead of his own personal aspirations made my head spin and left me truly inspired. We had to do something to recognize this true Canadian hero."
The medal is being designed by a team of volunteer designers at Jacknife, a 20-person multifunctional design agency, specializing in branding and industrial design.
Gilmore Junio selflessly put his country ahead of his own personal achievement at the 2014 winter games. When teammate Denny Morrison fell and failed to qualify at the Canadian Olympic trials, Junio decided to give him his spot in the race, realizing his teammate had a better chance at a podium finish than he did. Morrison responded with a spectacular skate, resulting in a silver medal for Canada.
